Mount Rushmore

Our next stop was Mount Rushmore
This is a very spectacular place.  When you think about the work that it took to complete this project, it is amazing that it was accomplished.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,
 Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

Because it was July 3rd, they had a moving  patriotic program in the evening, and then
they light the monument.  It is a very beautiful sight.

The scenery is spectacular, with winding roads, tunnels, 400 bends, 22 switchbacks
and 3 pigtail bridges

Part of the scenic drive is where a lot of
buffalo roam.  They are certainly not afraid of people.

Behind us is a
new monument which is being sculpted.  It is of Chief Crazy Horse.  It will be much larger than Mount Rushmore, if it is ever completed.

Our Amazing Summer

We began our amazing summer on June 30, when we left our home in Plymouth, Utah   Our first stop was Martin's Cove.  This is a very inspiring Church Historical Site where members of the Martin Handcart Compay were stranded because of a severe snowstorm.
Frank and Virginia Goodrich made this portion of the journey with us.

This is the cove where they were seeking shelter.  There is a very reverent feeling in this place

Rescuers were sent from Salt Lake in 1836

The Second Rescue took place in 1992 when the names of the company were researched and necessary temple ordinances were performed for them.

Youth pioneer trek groups come to the cove to get a glimpse of  what the pioneers experienced.

Kyle & Cali's Wedding

Our oldest grandson, Kyle Black was married in the Oakland Temple on June 15, 2013 to Calista Hansen.  It was a beautiful occasion and we were so happy for them.  What a blessing it is to have family members who are willing to sacrifice to share special occasions with their siblings.  We are truly blessed
I think they are excited!

50th Wedding Anniversary

50 fun and amazing years together.

We were married on June 15,1962 in the Logan, Utah temple.

Our children planned our 25th Wedding Anniversary and it was a very nice occasion.  They invited a lot of our friends.  They made us a quilt that each one of them made a block.  It is a treasure to us.

They had an anniversary cake made and used the same bride & groom on top that we had on our wedding cake.

Don & I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2012.  The two of us made a trip to Las Vegas where we saw some shows and ate good food and just had a relaxing time together.

Our family planned a 50 year celebration for us at one of our favorite locations, Rocky Point, Mexico.  The entire family, except two grandsons, daughter-in-law and great-granddaughter, were there.  We had a family
picture taken.

They planned a fiesta at our favorite Mexican restaurant, where we all enjoyed great food, fun times together, and a beautiful cake.  They made us a very beautiful book of memories that we will cherish.

We thank each of our children and grandchildren for making such memories for us.  We love being with them and they love being with each other.
