Niagara Falls

            We visited Niagara Falls on our way to Palmyra.  It is a spectacular sight.

We forgot our passports, so we couldn't see it from the Canadian side.

Winter Quarters - Nebraska

Winter Quarters is located in Omaha, Nebraska.  It was a pioneer settlement which was established as a stopping off point for those pioneers traveling from the east to Salt Lake City.

I don't think we would have made very good handcart pioneers.

Some people had enough money that they could take covered wagons.

 

 

There is a Memorial Cemetery at Winter Quarters

The Winter Quarters Temple

 

 These are sculptures in a park in downtown Omaha commemorating the migration of the pioneers.  It looks like a very hard trip with many obstacles to overcome.

Brigham Young was sustained as the 2nd President of the Church of Jesus Christ of

Latter-day Saints in Kanesville, Iowa.

 

 

 

 

The Mormon Battalion was sent out from Winter Quarters.
